IPTGSA AGM 2021 invite

Dear Members

This last year has been disastrous in the tourism industry and especially our sector, tourist guiding, Covid-19, lockdown, and changes in the industry have resulted in many of us having lost jobs and freelance work has completely dried up. It has been heartbreaking to hear of colleagues of many years passing on. Many colleagues have started with alternative jobs to make ends meet, so the question begs to be asked, what is tourist guiding going to look like when it all starts again?

This answer can be speculated about, but nobody has a definitive answer and we will have a look-see when it arrives.

The Institute of Professional Tourist Guides of Southern Africa (IPTGSA) is taking the visionary outlook that the Institute will keep going with the mandate the constitution prescribes for the tourist guide industry and keep educating and supporting the members so a professional membership may be presented to operators as and when guides are required.

The IPTGSA Annual General meeting will be held on 29 September 2021 at 10:00 at the Institute's offices at Workshop17 Firehouse Rosebank. The meeting will be an online Zoom meeting and all members and interested parties may join in on the online platforms.

As the Institute's EXCO and Board is voted in for a cycle of 2 years there is no voting for candidates this AGM 2021. The major item for this AGM 2021 is to ratify the minor changes to the constitution and give feedback on what has been done and what is planned for the future. As the AGM is the only body that can vote changes to the constitution we urge you to complete the short questionnaire to make your voice heard. Link
